KATHMANDU, May 15: The Joint Madhesi Pressure Group, comprising various 17 Madhes-centric organizations burnt the effigies of the chairpersons of three major political parties and the top leaders of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) on Monday evening.

Reasoning that they decided on devising 11 provinces in the country, the Group burnt the effigies of Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, Chairman of the CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal and others.

The leaders of Brihad Madhesi Front were present while burning effigies at Buddhanagar.

At the protest rally organized before burning effigies, a UCPN-Maoist leader Jyoti Jha said the party made agreement by deviating from the party line.

Other speakers said devising 11 provinces has wiped out the identity of Muslim community.
