  CAB, Universal register wins

KATHMANDU, May 16: College of Applied Business (CAB) and Universal College on Wednesday advanced to the quarterfinal of the Thames Inter-college T20 Cricket Tournament at the Army School Ground, Bhaktapur.

CAB thrashed Shankar Dev Campus by seven wickets while Universal College registered nine wickets victory over Everest College.

In the first match, CAB restricted Shankar Dev to 130 runs off 18.4 overs after Shankar Dev won the toss and opted to bat. Ashok Acharya grabbed four wickets in his 3.4 over spell for CAB. Roshan Khadka took two wickets while Subash Timalsina grabbed two wickets.

Himal Roshani scored 48 runs off 27 balls with seven boundaries and two huge sixes. Rajan Shrivastav was unbeaten on 26 runs off 35 balls with two boundaries.
CAB successfully chased the target 19.3 overs losing three wickets. Gaurav Bista scored 62 runs off 62 balls with 10 boundaries. Alok Kunwar was unbeaten on 22 runs off 24 balls with two boundaries.

Pramod Subedi, Himal Lohani and Bhagya Gurung shared a wicket each for Shankar Dev.

In another match, Universal College put Everest College to bat after winning the toss. Everest College scored 145 runs for the loss of five wickets. Kiran Thapa was the highest scorer for Everest College with 49 runs. Aashutosh Gautam scored 27 runs off 40 balls.

Nikunj Kumar, Kiran Nepal and Siddharth Karki grabbed a wicket each for Universal College.

Universal College successfully chased the target of 146 runs in 19.1 overs losing a wicket. Prajit Karmachary was unbeaten on 71 runs facing 63 balls that included seven boundaries. Vibek Shrestha scored unbeaten 31 runs off 38 balls. Bikash Subedi took the only wicket for Everest College.
