KATHMANDU: DAV College advanced into the quarterfinal of Thames Inter-college T20 Cricket Tournament on Saturday at the Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Bhaktapur. DAV registered three wicket win over K and K College in the rain hit match reduced to 15 overs.
Being invited to bat first, K and K garnered 78/8. Saurav Khatiwada was the highest scorer for K and K scoring 19 off 17 deliveries with two fences. Amir Budathoki collected 12 runs and Abhishek Neupane scored 11 for K and K. Avinas Giri, Rahul Basal and Rabindra Singh all pocked two wickets apiece to restrict K and K for moderate score.
Following the run chase, DAV managed 79 runs for the loss of seven wickets with five balls to spare. Man-of-the-match declared Rabindra Singh shaped the victory with unbeaten 25 runs off 16 ball that included four boundaries. Santosh Dami collected 14 runs and Saugat Adhikari scored 10 runs for DAV.
Saurav Khatiwada grabbed three wickets of DAV while Ansaj Upadhyaya and Abhishek Gupta pocked on wicket apiece for K and K.
Meanwhile, the second match of the day scheduled to be played between Campion and Kathford was washed out following heavy downpour. The match will be played on Sunday.
