KATHMANDU, May 19: Nepal Automobile Sports Association (NASA) on Saturday unveiled FIA Action for Road Safety, a program which aims to educate people about traffic rules to reduce road accidents.
The safety program was launched by Jean Todh, the president of Federation International De´l Automobile (FIA), in the capital. Team NASA was also revealed for same purpose on the occasion. The safety program aims to raise public awareness for road safety and implementation of traffic rules and tie up with traffic police and educational institution for safety and reducing road accidents.
Speaking at the function, Todh, who is visiting Nepal for the first time, opined that NASA has the opportunity to promote motor racing as a tourist attraction in the country of beautiful mountains. "Though Nepal is not in a sound condition financially, it is rich in motivation and determination and we are looking forward to strengthening ties with the country and NASA," Todh said.
NASA general secretary Govinda Bhattarai said, "NASA is committed to establish and promote motor sports as adventure sports in Nepal.”
Bhattarai also revealed plans of organizing Himalayan Race, Cross Country Rally (Kathmandu-Lhasa-Kathmandu) and Volkswagen Rally (India-Nepal).
