  Country saved from disaster: KC

DILIP POUDEL

BAGLUNG, May 28: Rastriya Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC said on Monday that the country is saved from an impending disaster, with the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML not accepting federalism based on ethnicity.

"Maoists were bent on leading the country to a disaster by adopting federalism based on single identity," KC said, adding, "NC and UML have saved the country from a disaster by shunning federalism based on ethnicity."

Talking to Republica this morning, KC said the Constituent Assembly (CA)´s failure to promulgate the new constitution has also proved that the country actually does want federalism. KC´s party has been opposing the idea of federalism all along.

He, however, said the country has plunged into a deep crisis, with CA´s dissolution Sunday night, and expressed concerns over the country´s future. "The prospect of institutionalization of republican polity in the country has suffered a setback," he opined.

"Political fluidity has increased," KC said. " Maoists have cunningly called  fresh polls, which is not legitimate. We will not accept the call," KC added.
