UML pledges Prez to take initiative for national govt

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, May 29: CPN UML has pledged President Ram Baran Yadav take initiative for the formation of national consensus government.

The standing committee meeting of the party at it´s office, Balkhu on Tuesday concluded that the president should take the initiative for the purpose as the present government which is just limited to a caretaker status cannot conduct fresh CA elections.

“UML demands formation of the national consensus government so it can make necessary arrangements and create a favorable environment for the fresh CA elections,” the statement issued by the party after the meeting reads.

The meeting has also reiterated that the PM announced fresh CA elections though there was enough space for other alternatives and pushed the country to ‘constitutional crises’.

“It has been proven that the PM’s decision to announce fresh elections was unconstitutional as it has ignored political, constitutional and legal hurdles,” the statement adds
