  DAV, Kathford into semifinals

KATHMANDU, May 30: DAV and Kathford College booked semifinal ticket on Wednesday winning their respective matches in Thames Inter-college T20 Cricket Tournament being held at Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya ground, Bhaktapur.

DAV registered six wickets win over CAB in the first quarterfinal match and Kathford overcame NCC by five wickets in the second match of the day.

Being invited to bat first CAB garnered 99/5 in the allotted 20 overs and in reply DAV made 101 in 12.4 overs losing four wickets.

Pratik Shahi was the highest scorer for CAB smashing 36 off 42. Alok Kunwar scored 22 runs and Roshan Khawas was unbeaten for 16. Avinash Giri and Saugat Adhikari claimed two wickets apiece for DAV. Giri of DAV was declared the man-of-the-match.

Santosh Dhami of DAV scored 24 off 29 while Rabindra Singh was unbeaten for 19. Rahul Bansal contributed 10 runs for DAV. Subash Timalsina claimed two wickets while Roshan Khadka and Alok Kunwar pocketed one wicket apiece for CAB.

In another match, winning the toss NCC opted to bat first and accumulated 102 runs losing eight wickets. Prajwal Karki (26), Suraj Khadka (19), Sambidhan Baidhya (12) and Prabhat Pokharel (10) contributed for NCC. Roshan Singh and Ganesh Joshi of Kathford claimed two scalps each.

Following the run chase, the man-of-the-man declared Ramesh Joshi scored unbeaten 28 runs as Kathford achieved the target with eight balls to spare. Adarsh Panta (20), Deepak Raj Bhatta (15) scored for winning side. Rohan Rijal of NCC claimed two wickets.

Host Thames will take on KMC and KCMIT will lock horns against Universal in other quarterfinal matches to be played on Thursday.
