'Mixed name for provinces a mid-way solution'

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, June 1: Some CPN-UML leaders have called for mixed names for the proposed federal provinces as a way out of the current disagreement among parties.

During a politburo meeting Friday, the leaders including former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey, argued the mixed names could also resolve disputes within the UML.

"We shouldn´t adopt the policy of preferential political or other rights on natural resources to a particular community or groups and there must be freedom to migrate from one province to another," he said. "Once we become careful in such crucial issues the names itself will make no difference."

The meeting will continue on Saturday.
