REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, June 2: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at the latter´s official residence in Shital Niwas, Maharajgunj on Saturday morning.

During the meeting, the UML chairman urged the president to help pave way for a national unity government even if that means disbanding the current Baburam Bhattarai-led government.

On the occasion, President Yadav stressed that he, as guardian of the interim constitution by virtue of his office, is for  consensus among political parties as a remedy to the existing political crisis.

Khanal also told the president that his party is against the government call for new elections of Constituent Assembly, which got dissolved on May 27 without being able to deliver a new constitution.
