KATHMANDU, June 2: Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has discussed with some influential leaders of the party in a bid to resolve differences seen in the party between the establishment and Baidya faction.

Chairman Dahal held talks with party standing committee member Krishna Bahadur Mahara to find a possible way regarding the party unity, according to Dahal´s aide Shiva Khakurel.

Khakurel said chairman Dahal would hold talks the whole day on Saturday with other leaders as well for his attempt to keep the party intact.

Earlier, chairman Dahal had given responsibilities to Vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and leader Mahara to find the possible ways for party unity.

On Friday, Chairman Dahal had told at the party meeting that he was even ready to quit the post of Chairman for the party unity.

Maoist politburo member Haribol Gajurel said Chairman Dahal has said that he is ready to quit if his resignation supports to keep the party intact.

Majority of the leaders in the central committee meeting urged the party chairman and other senior leaders to take initiative for party unity.
