Kathford sets up title clash against Thames

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, June 2: Kathford College set up title clash against host Thames International College in the Thames Inter-college T20 Cricket Tournament being held at Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya ground, Bhaktapur.

Inspired by an all round performance of Adarsh Panta, Kathford registered 24-run win over Universal College, the runner up of last edition in the second semifinal match played on Saturday. Host Thames had defeated DAV by one run in the first semifinal on Friday.

Pant scored the highest 19 off 14 as Kathford, being invited to bat first, posted 90-run target losing nine wickets. The match was reduced to 15 overs due to bad condition of field. Pant, declared man-of-the-match, also claimed two wickets of Universal.

Mahesh Khatri contributed 12 runs and Deepak Raj Bhatta nine runs for the winning side. Siddhartha Jung Karki of Universal pocketed four wickets and Kamal Shah claimed two scalps.

Following the run chase, Universal could manage only 65\9 in the allotted 15 overs. Bhim Raj Paudel remained unbeaten scoring 18 runs for Universal and Alex Shrestha collected 11 runs. Omjee Upadhayay of Kathford took three wickets while Roshan Singh and Ganesh Joshi got one wicket each.
The final will be played on Sunday.
