Former Maoist combatant involved in blast: Police

DHURBA DANGAL

SINDHUPALCHOWK, June 4: Police on Monday extended judicial custody of an ex-Maoist combatant who was arrested for alleged involvement in an explosion near a gathering addressed by finance minister Barshaman Pun, for another seven days.

Police have started further investigation on Sirkaji Tamang and said suspicion of Tamang´s involvement in the explosion had risen.

A bomb exploded Saturday near the venue where Maoist party had organized the gathering. Police have released Dawa Lama of Golche and Sanjeev BK of Fulpingkot who were arrested along with Tamang.

Police source said further investigations were needed after Tamang´s statement. Tamang spent two-and-half-years in Shaktikhor camp and is still affiliated with Maoist party. He returned home after being disqualified by UNMIN. Police have not yet officially commented. However, Tamang has denied his involvement in the blast.
