DHULIKHEL, June 7: A day-long National Media Conference jointly organized by the Press council Nepal, the Department of Information, Federation of Nepali Journalists and the Minimum Salaries Fixation Committee has begun in Dhulikhel today.
Inaugurating the conference, Minister for Information and Communications, Raj Kishor Yadav said a situation has come in which society is believed than political leaders in this transitional period as political power has been weaker.
He added that lasting peace will be maintained in the country if the powers available in the society were utilized in a right way.
Saying he had no information about the letter which was said to be sent by the Ministry to Image FM, Minister Yadav expressed the determination that he will acquire information about it immediately and clarify it after investigation by forming a taskforce.
He further said that the government has already directed to forward necessary process to establish Journalists´ Welfare Fund for welfare of journalists.
National-level media persons and representatives of different organizations affiliated to media sector are present in the seminar.
