KATHMANDU, June 7: The Embassy of India has confirmed that Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is visiting Kathmandu on June 15 and 16.
According to the emassy´s press and political officer, Avash Karmacharya, Dhoni confirmed his Kathmandu visit plan Thursday.
Dhoni is to arrive in Kathmandu on the afternoon of June 15. "He has interaction program with Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) officials and Nepali cricketers in the evening of June 15. We have also fixed an interaction program for his Nepali fans in the same evening," said Karmacharya.
Dhoni will offer prayers to Pasupatinath on the next morning and return to India.
"The Indian captain had wished for a long time to offer prayers at Pasupatinath and we were able to arrange for this," said Karmacharya. "When he confirmed the visit we thought why not host some interaction with Nepali cricketers and officials as well as his fans here," added Karmacharya.
Dhoni is the Indian cricket captain, who won the ICC World T20 Cup in 2007 and World Cup in 2011.
Earlier, Indian cricket legends Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar had visited Nepal in 1999 and 1999 respectively.
