KATHMANDU, June 7: Police on Thursday released the sketch of one of the two persons involved in killing Justice Rana Bahadur Bam.
Police have also announced to provide ´appropriate cash-award´ for anyone who provides an important tip-off about the murder. The identity of the person giving the tip-off will not be divulged, police said.
The sketch is entirely based on how bodyguard Mahesh Giri, who was also injured while trying to protect Justice Bam, described one of the two shooters. Giri could not remember the face of the other shooter. As the shooter -- described by Giri -- had masked his mouth, the sketch lacks details; and shows only eyes, ears and forehead.
A week after Supreme Court (SC) Justice Bam was shot dead near UN Park at Shankhamool, an investigation team led by Police AIG Kuber Rana said that Justice Bam´s murder contains characteristics of ´ultra modern organized crime´. The team said that the police are investigating the murder by adopting a planned and scientific method.
"We are close to cracking the case," said AIG Rana. "We are taking into consideration every possibility to find out the truth."
Justice Bam was shot dead on May 31 while heading toward the SC. The shooters had also shot Bam´s friend Ram Giri and bodyguard Mahesh Giri.
