Rs 21.4 million Indian aid for bridge in Sindhupalchok

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, June 13: The Indian government will provide grant assistance of Rs 21.4 million for the construction of a bridge at Kaule Dovan across Sindhu River in Sindhupalchok district.

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu and District Development Committee, Sindhupalchok on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

"The MoU stipulates the constitution of an Oversight Committee, comprising representatives of the DDC and other stakeholders with a view to ensuring the implementation of the project in a time bound manner,"said a press statement issued by the Indian Embassy.

According to the statement, the construction of the bridge will result in faster movement of goods and services as well as passengers from the six VDCs in the area which will significantly reduce travel time and fuel cost from Shakhu to Kaule Dovan.
