KATHMANDU, June 15: The monsoon phenomena is active in the eastern parts of the country, according to the Meteorology and Weather Forecasting Division.
Senior meteorologist at the Division, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha said monsoon-related weather activity has been seen in the eastern areas of the country including in Biratnagar, Jhapa and Taplejung, among other places.
Due to the influence of the monsoon in the eastern parts of the country, precipitation will likely occur in Kathmandu from Sunday.
Weathermen say the monsoon will pass through the central region and gradually reach the far-west of the country by Wednesday.
Although it is forecast that generally monsoon starts in Nepal from June 10 via India and ends around September 23, this year it is delayed by a week.
