  My thoughts as a teenager

AISHWARYA KHATIWADA

KATHMANDU, June 16: Teenage is a chapter in our life where we teens should be careful in everything we do. In it, our body grows older, and we can’t imagine the things growing under our skins as we go through this stage in life.

Have you imagined it that as we go through this stage, everything changes – physically, mentally, socially, and most of all, emotionally?

As we go through life, we meet changes that will make our character stand above all. What you do now will lay the foundation for you and your future. For the short period of our adolescence, we must try to make this an exciting, enjoyable, and a memorable time in our lives.

As teenagers, we’re in that enviable stage where everything is positioned to go our way. We’re young, full of energy, we feel like we’re incredible, totally carefree, and becoming freer and more independent day by day.

We will also have a thousand and one questions as we enter this new stage of life. This is the time when we actually need the guidance and support of our parents and older people.

We’re social creatures, and the need for companionship is most pronounced among teenagers. The company we keep will have a great effect in our present life. Choosing the right circle of friends will save us from a lot of troubles, heartaches, and possibly from wrong steps in our life.

Teenage is the most critical phase of any person’s life where one decides to either make or break their future. Today, we think that we’re the most superior of all beings and can do anything. We walk in our own way of whims and caprices and don’t enjoy anyone’s interference in our life. This phase, which can be synonymous to wet clay that can be molded in any shape or size, decides our future and the future path we walk.

In this phase, there are many possibilities for teenagers like us. We may become antisocial, with drug abuse, unwanted sexual relationships, etc. These are followed by many teenagers today, ultimately resulting in massive problems for teenagers, their families, communities, society, the nation, and the world.

In today’s world, booming modernization has become the main factor influencing the development of teenagers like us. Today’s teenagers are found hanging on electronic gadgets rather than getting involved in community works and spending more time in nature and with family. We teenagers are also accused of getting uncivilized and rude day by day.

Teenage is a phase where teenagers like us appreciate advice rather than receiving orders. Every teenager requires timely advice and counseling for her future development.

Parents of teenagers should be extra cautious about their children’s activities and help them walk on the right path. Positive deeds done by teenagers should be emphasized and appreciated so that they become praiseworthy human beings in the future.

On their part, teenagers should cooperate with members of their families and communities, and work for a better future.

And, in conclusion, I wish every teen in Nepal a happy teen time ahead!
