KATHMANDU, June 26: Vice-president of the World Bank (WB), Axeavon Trotsenberg, who is on a visit to Nepal, called on Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai on Tuesday.
During the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister at Singha Durbar, Prime Minister Bhattarai said that economic situation of the country was very good.
Expressing happiness over WB’s continued support in different sectors of the country, the Prime Minister urged to increase more assistance, Prime Minister’s aide, Prashant Lamichhane quoted the Prime Minister as saying.
According to Lamichhane, saying that energy, tourism, agriculture and infrastructure developments sectors were the priority of Nepal at present, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai stressed that the WB should increase its assistance to these sectors.
On the occasion, Trotsenberg said Nepal was in a good position in the WB’s countrywise assessment as overall index of the economy are good, and congratulated Nepal for being in a good position in the assessment.
He said that the WB was ready to increase assistance to Nepal.
