ITAHARI, June 26: Gautampur VDC Chairman of Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Ravi Lal Mehta has been hacked to death at his home Monday night.
Mehta, 60, had slept in the verandah of the ground floor due to warm conditions despite his family sleeping upstairs.
Sunsari Police said his family members found his body when they woke up at four in the morning with mark of sharp weapon on his throat.
“The fact that the family dog did not bark during the incident shows that familiar persons have killed him,” Sunsari committee member of RJP Govardhan Yadav said. DSP Buddha Gurung said a special team has been mobilized for investigations but refused to divulge any details.
