REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, June 27: Metropolitan Police Range (MPR) has started investigation into violation of Nepal Police code of conduct by Inspector Shyam Mahato of the Metropolitan Police Sector, Singha Durbar.

On Monday night, Mahato had forcefully shut down three teashops outside Norvic Hospital in Thapathali and slapped Raju, one of the teashop owners, nine times.

There is no time demarcation for teashops to run their business outside hospital areas. MPR Chief SSP Jay Bahadur Chand told Republica that the investigation started after the news appeared in Republica.

“His actions have violated the code of conduct of Nepal Police,” he said, “I have started investigation into the incident. Action will be taken against him.”
