  Dozen arrested in Itahari hotel raids

ITAHARI, July 1: Police arrested dozens of people for their alleged involvement in flesh trading, gambling and street drug transactions from different hotels and restaurants of Itahari area on Saturday.

Four different teams of police personnel had raided at a same time in different hotels and lodges.

Police said that dozens of couples, gamblers and some drug addicts were arrested.

Police Inspector of Area Police Office, Itahari, said 24 males and 17 females were held from hotels and restaurants for their alleged involvement in flesh trading and illegal activities.

Police personnel have also seized some street drugs kept for sale from Tiptop Hotel and Restaurant, Itahari.

Similarly, hotelier Subas BK of Urlabari-6 in Morang district, BK´s aide and a hotel staffer were arrested on the charge of drug transactions.
Police also held six gamblers from other hotels.

However, the hoteliers have blamed the police administration for bringing crisis in their business by arresting even the ´genuine customers´.
