KATHMANDU, July 1: The Solidarity Trust Nepal has announced Hikmat Thapa, acting coordinator of Non Resident Nepali Association ( NRNA), South African Continent, with the ´Best NRN´ title.

The Trust decided to honour Thapa with the Best NRN title in recognition of his kind help and support to the Nepalis facing troubles in Nigeria.

Thapa had a significant role in bringing the bodies of two Nepali killed in a riot in Nigeria last January and ensuring compensation to the victims´ families. Similarly, he had a great role in rescuing those Nepali swindled by the agents, freeing six Nepalis serving jail term in Tanzania. Thapa is the first person receiving felicitations from the Society.

NRNA Founding Chairman and Patron Bhim Udas honoured Thapa with the title amidst a ceremony here on Saturday.

On the occasion, he accused the government of becoming apathetic towards the problems faced by the Nepali abroad.

Similarly, Trust Chairman Neelkantha Tiwari and advisor Lok Krishna Bhattarai praised Thapa for his help to the needy Nepalis in the foreign land
