KATHMANDU, July 5: The government has decided to probe into the police firing during a clash between police and locals of Mahamadpur, Rautahat, in which one person got killed and more than a dozen others were injured.
A cabinet meeting held on Thursday afternoon also decided to provide compensation to the bereaved family and free medical treatment to the injured.
Ramud Sah Kalwar, a local, was killed in the incident. The police had opened fire, apparently, to control a crowd of locals gathered to protest the arrest of a tractor driver who, the police believed, was involved in an accident that led to a death of a motorcyclist.
According to Information and Communication Minister Raj Kishor Yadav, the meeting also endorsed the Market Monitoring Guideline 2012, and decided to allow the agriculture ministry to take Rs 2.46 billion loan from international agencies for the development of agricultural sector.
Similarly, the meeting approved the visit of a seven-member Nepali delegation to Beijing to take part in a secretary level talks to be held on July 21-26.
