After Navaraj BK, 19, married Samjhana Subedi, 18, on Sunday, Subedi´s relatives came to the Dalit settlement on Tuesday evening and severely thrashed his family members.

Navaraj´s mother, Kaushila was seriously injured in the attack. She is receiving treatment at a hospital at Gajuri in the district. Another injured Indira BK has returned home after treatment.

According to the victims, Ram Bhadur BK, Ramesh BK, Binda BK, Pyauti BK, Sita BK and Kopila BK were also injured in the attack. The victims have also filed a complaint with the police against the girl´s relatives. They said they were forced to flee their homes fearing for their lives.

The chief district officer (CDO) of Dhading, Bed Prasad Kharel, said that 10 Dalit families visited his office on Friday demanding security. "I immediately ordered the police to provide them security and investigate into the matter," he said.

CDO Kharel said the victims were bought to the district headquarters by some non governmental organizations. The District Police Office (DPO) said it has started investigation into the incident.
