KATHMANDU, July 10: Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army General Bikram Singh arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday on a five-day official visit to Nepal at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart General Chhatraman Singh Gurung.
This is the first foreign visit of General Singh after he took over as CoAS of Indian Army on June 1, 2012.
NA´s Lieutenant General Gaurab SJB Rana welcomed General Singh, who leads a six-member delegation, at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A contingent of NA had given CoAS Singh a guard of honor at NA´s Headquarters in Bhadrakali when he reached there to hold talks with CoAS Gurung.

According to a press statement issued by NA´s Public Relations Directorate, the two army chiefs held discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two armies. General Singh also met other senior army officials at the NA headquarters.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav is scheduled to confer honorary title of NA General on Singh during the Investiture Ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday.
Singh will visit Birendra Peacekeeping Operation Training Centre at Paanchkhal, High Altitude Mountain Warfare School (HAMWS) Jomsom, Nepal Army Western Division Headquarters and Pension Paying Office Pokhara, where he will also address a rally of Indian ex-servicemen. The general would also visit Nepal Army Command and Staff College, Shivapuri, where he will address cadets.
