Convincing atmosphere must to resolve crisis: NC prez Koirala
KATHMANDU, July 16: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has said it was impossible to resolve the present crisis if the UCPN-Maoist failed to create convincing atmosphere for the implementation of the past agreements.
The Maoist party has been violating agreements time and again, President Koirala said, urging the Maoist to create trustworthy atmosphere.
At a programme organized by the Nepali Congress Kalikot-Kathmandu Liaison Committee here Monday, he said Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai should pave the way for a political way out.
He demanded the formation of national consensus government with immediate resignation of the prime minister as election was not possible on November 22.
Leader Koirala claimed that the next government would be led by his party. He added that the NC was ready to announce its prime ministerial candidate if an atmosphere conducive for it was created.
In another note, leader Koirala said all parts of the country should be developed equally. Karnali region should be prioritized for development as it is very remote, he argued.
Other leaders including Jivan Bahadur Sahi, Dilli Raj Regmi, Gururaj Ghimire and Narayan Prasad Bhattarai pointed out the need of vigorous role of the Nepali Congress to resolve the present crisis.
Party President Koirala honoured Kalikot students who came up with excellent result in recent School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exam from the district.
