  Chitwan hospitals resumes operation

CHITWAN, July 17: Hospitals in Chitwan district which were closed for three days at the call of local health professionals have reopened from Tuesday.

Agitating health professionals here have agreed to bring the medical services back into operation, following a three point-agreement reached with the local administration this morning.

The local administration here has agreed to implement the Healht Institutes Security Act- 2066 BS.

The Act has a provision of a stringent action into a case related to an attack on health professionals and mishbehaviours with them in course of the treatment. The Act has also recommended an action against those health professionals found working with an ill-intention.

Besides, an agreement has been reached to take action against those found guilty in recent attacks on doctors and health workers in the district, said Nepal Medical Association, Chitwan secretary Dr Krishna Poudel.

Chief District Officer Himnath Dawadi and Association´s Chairman Dr Bhola Rauniyar singed on the agreement on behalf of thier respective capacities .

The Association has warned of launching an agitation again if the agreement was not implemented within the next 10 days.

Of late, attacks on health professionals by relatives of patients are on the rise in the district, said the Association. Patients visting the district-based health institutes, seeking treatment had been affected due to the strike.
