KATHMANDU, July 18: The closed session of UCPN (Maoist)´s ongoing seventh plenum has been postponed amid clamors by ex-PLA fighters for clarification on alleged misappropriation of funds at the cantonments, on Wednesday. The session will now resume on Thursday at 11 am.
The plenary meet, which started a day earlier and resumed at 11 am today, held group discussion on the political document presented Tuesday by party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The discussion supposed to continue at 2 pm after luncheon, however, could not re-start till 4 pm due to the persistent disruption, forcing the postponement of today´s session.
Former combatants led by those from the Shaktikhor camp had demanded that the commanders implicated in financial irregularities be presented at the meeting to clarify on the issue, an ex-PLA fighter informed Republica Online.
He said they would not allow the proceeding to move ahead unless party Chairman Dahal addresses their concerns. The ex-combatants also shouted slogans to press for their demand at today´s closed session.
