KATHMANDU, July 23: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has said that action would be taken against the police officials found indulging in illegal activities.

Home Minister Gachchhadar made this commitment to a delegation of Federation of Nepali Journalists that had gone to meet him demanding action against Manoj Paudel, Assistant Sub-inspector of Nepal Police, for plotting to finish off Inaruwa-based journalist Abdesh Kumar Jha of Kantipur National Daily.

Chairman of FNJ Shiva Gaunle on the occasion said it was unfortunate that security persons were plotting murder of journalists.

"We demand an immediate action against the police personnel involved in making such a criminal plan and the Home Minister has expressed commitment to take action to that end," Gaunle said.

The Home Minister has also pledged to issue directives to the authorities concerned to take action against those involved in the incident
