Nepalthoak-Khurkot section of Banepa-Sindhuli-Bardibas highway completed

NEPALTHOAK (SINDHULI), July 25: Construction of the 14 Kilometers Nepalthoak- Khurkot section of the Banepa-Sindhuli-Bardibas highway was inaugurated Wednesday following completion of construction of the third block of road under the first phase program.
Suechi Sakakibara, minister councilor of Japanese Embassy, Mitsuyoshi Kabasaki, chief of JAICA Nepal, consultant of Nippon Koika Yeshihiko Sunoda , Secretary of Ministry of Physical Planning and Works Tulshi Sitaula, Director General of Division of Road (DoR) and Chief District Officer (CDO) of Sindhuli Beni Madhav Gyawali jointly inaugurated the road at Gajuldaha.
Construction on the section started in February 2010. Until now vehicles were operating on a temporary track in Khurkot Nepalthoak section
"Construction on 123 kilometers has been completed and transportations have been operating continuously,” Bharat Kaji Debaju said.
Construction of the road started in 1996 by dividing the highway into four sections. The Japanese government provided financial and technical assistance for the 160 kilometers highway.
“All the construction will be completed next year and we estimate the cost will reach Rs 21.70 billion,” he said.
The Japanese government has provided Rs 19 billion grant to build the first, second and fourth section of the highway. The government of Nepal has spent Rs 1.01 billion for repair works, compensation distribution, administrative expenses and royalty.
