POKHARA, Aug 1: Manipal Teaching Hospital remained closed for the fourth straight day as the talks between the hospital administration and the agitating doctors ended inclusively on Wednesday.
The talks failed to bear any fruits as the hospital administration refused to consider the doctors´ demand for a 20 per cent increase in their salary scales.
According to Ramjee Koirala, joint spokesperson for the hospital´s administration, the management categorically refused the doctors´ demand saying that the salary scales can be hiked only as per existing practices.
The doctors have halted all but emergency services at the hospital since last Sunday demanding a 20 per cent raise in their salaries.
