BHADRAPUR, Aug. 2: A wild elephant trampled a man to death at Budhabare VDC-4, Jhpa district, last night.
Thirty-eight years old Ganesh Bahadur Bhusal Uparkoti was trampled to death by the pachyderm at 11:30 pm on Wednesday while he was irrigating the rice fields, said the Area Police Office, Budhabare.
This is the first instance of wild elephant killing a human being this year. Seven people were killed by wild elephants in Jhapa district last year.
