Students union shut Rukum schools for indefinite period
REPUBLICA ONLINE
RUKUM, Aug 4: All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union – Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) aligned with the UCPN (Maoist) has enforced complete shutdown in all academic institutions in Rukum since past four days.
The academic institutions have been forced to shut citing an altercation that took place between the cadres of ANNISU-R and All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), a students union aligned with CPN-UML, on last Wednesday at Musikot Khalanga Multipurpose Campus, in which three cadres of ANNISU-R have been injured.
However, the SLC supplementary exams have not been hampered. Although the students union had called for complete shutdown of marketplaces, shops, industries and transportation services, the transport entrepreneurs have defied the banda in the district.
After stiff protests from the transport entrepreneurs against banda, the students have allowed the vehicles to ply on the road, however, the indefinite banda on the academic institutions has not been lifted.
Both the students unions have been at loggerheads since last two weeks over an establishment of a committee at the Musikot campus.
