  NSC-formed panel probing irregularities

KATHMANDU, Aug 4: Probe committee formed by National Sports Council (NSC) to investigate into financial as well as other irregularities in the national associations and sports organization has requested NSC board not to release financial assistance to associations that have not settled arrears.

 "We are investigating into irregularities and we have found that there is an arrear totaling Rs 341 million," said Pitambar Timsina, head of the probe committee and NSC vice president.

 According to Timsina, national associations have started settling their arrears since last week. "Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is to settle arrears of Rs 51 million while Nepal Olympic Committee led by Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan is to settle arrears of Rs 7 million," said Timsina.
