Ex-lawmakers to pledge Prez for CA revival

REPUBLICA ONLINE

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Former lawmakers have decided to meet President Ram Baran Yadav and request him to exert pressure on leaders for the revival of the Constituent Assembly (CA).

A meeting of the former lawmakers at Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party in Singhadurbar on Tuesday took the decision to this effect.

"We will pledge the president that the new constitution should be promulgated by reviving the CA for a short period," Shovakar Parajuli, former lawmaker from NC said.

He also added that ruling the country through ordinance was against the spirit of democracy and revival of the CA was the only democratic practice.

CPN-Maoist leader Ram Bahadur Thapa (Udayapur) also said the CA should be revived for a short period of time.
