KATHMANDU, Aug 8: The Jews call it Arbes or Arbis but this easy to make, tasty and addictive dish is locally known as ‘Chana Sandheko’ in Nepali. This snack which can be mastered by even those who do not know how to work their way around a kitchen is basically boiled chickpeas mixed with salt and pepper.

To prepare this snack, soak chickpeas as amount desired overnight and then boil it with some baking soda for 30 to 60 minutes until the chickpeas are soft. Then, add salt and pepper to taste. If you want to take this a little further, you can add finely cut onions, cucumbers, tomatoes and capsicum. Squeeze some lime over the mix and add chaat masala for that tangy taste!
