KATHMANDU, Aug 10: The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, on Friday said that the federal democratic alliance (FDA) was formed to ensure federalism with identity and constitution with federalism.
Talking to journalists after attending a program organized by Lokgatha Samaj in the capital, the former prime minister reasoned that the FDA was needed for the practical implementation of federalism as ensured by the Interim Constitution 2063 B.S.
"Such an alliance is needed to empower the people. This is not against any political force but only to provide rights to people," Dahal said.
Dahal also expressed his confidence that the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) also would join the FDA.
A meeting of the coalition partners on Thursday that share common opinion on federalism had decided to form the FDA.
Dahal was of the opinion that such an alliance was required to resolve the present political crisis as well.
The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman further said that his party would take special initiative to move ahead the political process that began after signing the 12-point agreement.
