KATHMANDU, Aug. 10: Just a day after the coalition partners formed a federal democratic alliance (FDA) under the UCPN (Maoist) leadership, the CPN (Maoist) and some other fringe political parties formed a similar alliance called Federal People´s Republican Alliance, Nepal on Friday.

The new alliance has accused the coalition partners of forming FDA for prolonging the Dr. Baburam Bhattrai-led government´s stay on power.

Eight different political parties and organizations including the CPN (Maoist), CPN (Unified), Revolutionary Communist Party Nepal have teamed up in the people´s republican alliance.

Coordinator of the alliance and Vice-Chairman of CPN (Maoist) C P Gajurel said that the alliance was formed to scale up the demand for new government under the leadership of a revolutionary force and to organize an all-party round table conference to end the present political and constitutional impasse.

He also claimed that the alliance formed by the coalition partners and by the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) would not give a way out to the political deadlock.

"The alliance would displace the prime minister who wants to run the country in the capacity as the head of a lame duck government," Gajurel said.

The alliance has also made public its protest programmes of organizing nationwide assemblies, demonstrations and interactions from August 14 to September 1.

Gajurel said an intensive interaction would be organized in the capital on August 14 to prepare groundwork for an all-side round table conference.
