District's only eye center faces funds crunch

REPUBLICA

JAJARKOT, Aug 10: Following suspension of aid by the Swiss Red Cross, the only eye treatment centre in Jajarkot district is facing severe crunch of funds.

“The eye centre is in trouble with the donors stopping funding,” said Shanta Kumar Karki, president of Nepal Red Cross Society, Jajarkot.

According to the eye center chief Pradeep Jung Shah, the center is currently being operated through the money collected by selling medicines, glasses and treatment fees.

“Around 15 patients regularly visit the centre for treatment,” said Shah.
