ILAM, Aug 12: Enraged at continuous power outage for the past eight days in the headquarters and 21 VDCs of the district, locals have padlocked the branch office of Nepal Electricity Authority in Ilam.
The locals also enforced a shutdown on Sunday. There has been a power blackout after the transformer at Tilkeni stopped functioning. “We enforced the shutdown to protest the indifference of the NEA. It has taken no initiative to fix the problem,” said Ishwor Chipalu, a local. The locals have warned of stringent protests if the problem is not resolved immediately.
“We are doing our best to solve the problem. I understand the problems faced by the locals but it will take few weeks to resume power supply,” said chief of NEA, Ilam Rajiv Sharma.
