KATHMANDU, Aug. 16: The Special Court has sentenced then Department Chief of Janakpur Cigarette Factory Limited (JCFL), Bindeswar Prasad Gupta to four years in prison along with a fine of Rs. 3.58 million after finding him guilty of corruption during his term of office.
Court Chairman Gauri Bahadur Karki and members Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise handed down the verdict today after finding Gupta of embezzling Rs. 3.58 million earned by the JCFL through sale of its products.
Gupta was found guilty of corruption as per Clause 17 and 3(1) of the Corruption Prevention Act, 2059 BS, said registrar of the Court, Dhir Bahadur Chand
