PARSA, Birgunj, Aug 19: Police confiscated 40-kg of marijuana from Jitpur of Parsa district on Saturday night.
A police patrol team deputed from Area Police Office, Sedhawa had seized marijuana while the smugglers with the banned substance were heading towards Bisanpurwa from Jitpur VDC-9, Abasheshpur.
The smugglers had run away by leaving the marijuana on the midway after police encountered with them.
Some 40-kg of marijuana was seized during the patrol, said Sub inspector at Sedhawa Police Gopal Bahadur Kunwar.
Likewise, a police team deputed from Pokhariya recovered 220-kg of marijuana from the house of Mangal Saha Kanu of Bishrampur VDC-7 based on a special tip off.
It is noted that scuffle between police and locals ensued when villagers attacked on police who reached there to recover marijuana at 9.00 PM yesterday.
Police personnel Pushkar Chaulgain sustained minor injury in the incident.
Police had opened three rounds of blank fire to take the situation under control, said Superintendent of Police at Parsa District Police Office Pitambar Adhikari.
