  PM directs for effective market monitoring

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has directed bodies concerned to take the market monitoring ahead in an effective manner keeping in mind the approaching festive season.

Addressing the ministry level annual progress review meeting of development programs and projects and the meeting of the Development Problems Resolution Committee of the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies of the fiscal year 2068-69 BS held on Sunday, he urged the Ministry to take all possible measures to make the market monitoring more effective and ensure smooth supply of goods during the festive time.

The PM sought a special attention from the Ministry towards addressing the people´s complaints of shortage of daily consumer goods and black marketing.
He also directed the ministry to seek possible ways of reducing trade deficit with other countries.

The government would take elaborate measures to balance the import and export ratio.

Also speaking in the meeting, National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Deependra Bahadur Kshetry stressed the need of promoting domestic products.

Only political diplomacy is not sufficient to bring economic progress in the country, he said, and called for focusing on economic diplomacy. He called for moving forward by enlisting government priorities for the same.
