KATHMANDU, Aug 20: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) will provide financial support to the bereaved families of U-14 players Ranjan Thapa and Sagar Pariyar, who lost their lives in a road accident two weeks ago.
ANFA President Ganesh Thapa made such announcement during a condolence meet held at ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Tuesday to mark the 13th day mourning ritual.
"Financial assistance cannot compensate for their loss but it´s our way of honoring them," said Thapa.
According to ANFA Vice-president and Spokesperson Lalit Krishna Shrestha, ANFA will request government authorities, football clubs and other organizations to support the bereaved families.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama, ANFA officials and footballers also attended the condolence meet.
Thapa and Pariyar, both U-14 footballers at ANFA Academy, were killed in a bus accident at Maheshkhola in Simle of Dhading district on August 7 that left at least 11 others dead.
Two other U-14 footballers -- Milan Hitang and Samrat Blon -- sustained injuries in the accident. According to ANFA officials, both of them will be discharged from hospital on Tuesday.
All four players were returning to Kathmandu from Butwal after appearing in the SLC supplementary examination.
