  4 infants die after vaccination in Doti

DOTI, Aug 21: Four infants on Tuesday have died in Doti within 24 hours after receiving vaccines against various diseases from district health office.

The deceased have been identified as Anju BK, of Pokhari-9, Gauri Chiral of Kadamandau-7, Milan Damai of Kadamandau-6 and Sujata Nepali of Thapagaun, Kadamandau-7.

However, the health office has not yet established the exact cause of their death. A team of medical professionals have left for the incident site to investigate the matter.

“Till the report comes, we cannot say for sure, the exact cause of the death,” said Mahendra Dhwaj Adhikari, senior health officer, adding, “We have already sent a team of medical professionals, we hope by evening the actual cause is known."

Three of the infants had been given anti-measles shot, while the deceased Gauri had been administered DPT vaccine.

The children had taken ill after the vaccination, informed the locals.
