KATHMANDU, Aug. 23: A week-long exhibition of coins and paper notes and postage stamps began here on Thursday, commemorating the 200 years of the victory of the patriots in Russia in 1812.

Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Keshav Man Shakya inaugurated the exhibition by affixing the first cancellation mark on a postage stamp at the Russian Culture Centre on Thursday.

Old coins, paper notes and stamps of Nepal and Russian are on display at the exhibition organized jointly by Nepal Science and Culture Centre and Nepal Philatelic Society.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Dr Shakya said the collection by those involved in stamp and coin collection would help preserve the history in the long-run.
