CPN-Maoist roundtable at central, local levels

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Arguing that roundtable conference comprising all political parties and the agitating groups is the only way to resolve the current political deadlock, the newly-formed CPN-Maoist has decided to continue with holding similar conferences both at the center and at local level.

A three-day meeting of the party that concluded Thursday made a decision to this effect. The meeting concluded that roundtable conference is the only way to draft a new constitution and resolve the impasse.

According to a press statement issued by the party, the meeting has decided to hold the first national gathering of the party´s Rastriya Swyamsewak Dal from October 11 in Kathmandu. Likewise, the meeting also decided to hold the party´s central committee meeting from August 30.

Among other things, the meeting has decided to submit a list of demands to Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and District Administration Offices on issues related to nationality, democracy and daily life of ordinary people.
