KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Anish Deula of Kathmandu set up a title clash with Bishwa Maharjan of Thankot in the boys´ 60-63 kg bout of the First Novice Cup Nation-wide Boxing Championship after winning their respective semifinal matches on Friday.
Deula defeated Bijay Singh Tamang of Yuva Samaj while Maharjan saw off Saurav Lama of Sunsari in the third day of the tournament being held at the covered hall of the Dasharath Stadium.
In the 42-44 kg category, Sarjan Pariyar of Jumla secured a place in the final after defeating Sanju Pun of Dang. He will next face Som Lama of Makwanpur, who beat Anup Maharjan of Bosigaun ´A´ in the other semifinal.
Likewise, Rajesh Hemran of Jhapa defeated Sandeep Tamang to advance into the final of the 44-46 kg category. He will take on Kiran BK of Nawalparasi in Saturday´s final.
In other matches, Santosh Rai of Sunsari secured a final showdown with Amrit BK of Nawalparasi in the 46-48 kg category.
Other boxers to secure berths in the final were Sanjay Bhujel and Susan Manandhar in 48-50 kg, Nirmal Izam and Deepak Magar in 50-52 kg, Kalan Rawal and Bishnu Budha Magar in 52-54 kg, Biraj Rai and Shankar Dangol in 54-57 kg, and Santish Ale Magar and Dinesh KC in 57-60 kg.
