RAUTAHAT, Aug 26: Death toll in the boat-capsize in the Bagmati River at Gamhariya VDC in Rautahat district on Saturday has reached four.
The death toll reached four after a body of 13-year-old Pratima Patel was found this morning. Locals said that some people are still missing in the River.
The boat on its way to Gamhariya Parsa of Rautahat from Manpurghat of Sarlahi district is said to have capsized due to overload of passengers, police said.
Police had recovered bodies of Rajiya Khatun, 18, Abasana Khatun, 13, and Misrata Khatun, 35, of Gamhariya-7 and 35-year-old Sayera Khatun was rescued in wounded condition.
Injured Khatun said that around 25-30 people were on board the boat. The actual number of the people missing in the river has not been ascertained yet, according to Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Rautahat, Thule Rai.
Police said that Yesar Khatun, Samana Khatun, Sakhanath Khatun, Asha Kumari, among others, are missing in the river.
The Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and locals have intensified search for the missing, police confirmed.
The incident took place when the people were returning home after working in farms and cutting grass on the other side of the river.
All the deceased and most of the missing are women, villagers said.
